About Us


Who We Are:

Founded in 1999, MyWebGrocer is based in Colchester Vermont. MyWebGrocer maintains a full service team of development, database, networking, website design, and customer service professionals. It currently provides a variety of eCommerce and eMarketing services to more than 80 retail grocery chains. MyWebGrocer also manages the website, Amazon.com storefront and fulfillment technology for Netgrocer.com, a large internet based grocery provider focused on non-perishable products shipped nationally and internationally.

In addition, we also provide fulfillment services and software solutions to several national consumer packaged goods manufacturers.

What We Do:

MyWebGrocer provides high quality, superior service and leading-edge eCommerce and eMarketing solutions to the grocery and consumer packaged goods industries. Our eMarketing services are focused on website design, specialty modules for websites, hosting, sophisticated email solutions and consulting services. These offerings are designed to be used on a standalone basis or as an integral part of a seamless internet solution. Our eCommerce offerings include a full online shopping and store fulfillment system branded to match the retailers banner. All of our offerings can be individually tailored to meet the diverse needs of our client base.

Senior Management Team

Rich Tarrant, Founder and CEO
Rich founded MyWebGrocer in 1999, Rich was an early believer in the viability of the online grocery business and developed our first generation eCommerce Platform. He has an impressive record as an entrepreneur in the retail, real estate, and health care industries. Rich is a graduate of the University of Vermont and holds a Business degree.

Curt Alpeter, Senior Vice President, Sales
Curt was most recently a Vice President at IDX Systems Corp., a publicly traded healthcare software company based in Burlington, Vermont. As a member of IDX's Senior Operations Team, Curt was responsible for managing the sales, development and operational functions of IDX's most strategic business partnership. During his 15 years at IDX, Curt also spent 10 years in a variety of sales leadership roles. As Vice President of Sales, Curt was responsible for leading a national team of 30 people including regional vice presidents, sales representatives, marketing and administrative staff. Curt holds a BA in Marketing from Miami University, Ohio

Jeff Downs, CIO
Jeff has 22 years of software design and development experience across a variety of domains including retail, healthcare, travel, and microelectronics. Jeff's research work in the area of graphical interfaces and storage has been published and presented internationally. Jeff has been the Director of Development at MyWebGrocer for six years and has an in-depth understanding of the grocery business. Jeff holds a Computer Science degree from Rochester Institute of Technology and a Computing Graphics degree from State University of New York at Alfred.

Heather Drake, Director, Operations
Heather is responsible for leading the operations group at MyWebGrocer. This includes new store roll-outs, reporting, e-mail services and customer service. Prior to her assuming leadership of the Operations Team, she was on the development team as a software engineer. Heather served as an officer in the military before joining MyWebGrocer. She holds a Computer Science Engineering degree from Norwich University

Alec Newcomb, Vice President, MyWebLink
Alec is an Internet veteran with experience including MTV Networks, Lycos, and two Internet start ups. Alec was the Director of Search & Navigation at Lycos where he led the team that managed the Home Page of Lycos, Search, and Directories that represented 80% of Lycos.com traffic. He has more than 10 years of sales and product marketing experience with companies such as Bosch, LexiQuest, and MTV Networks. Alec spent his early career at MTV Networks where he worked in the Market Development department which was responsible for building alternate technology markets for MTV, VH1, and Nickelodeon.

David Tanzer, Principal Database Architect
David has been developing large scale database systems for 26 years, and has been working with SQL databases since 1988. He has outstanding experience in the design, development, management, monitoring and optimization of database applications. David has been the DBA at MyWebGrocer for six years and has an intimate knowledge of the technical data base issues facing the grocery industry. David holds a Bachelor of Arts from Goddard College.
